E-waste Management

Electronic waste or e-waste is referred as a term for electrical and electronic equipment which becomes unwanted, non-working, obsolete, or have essentially reached at the end of its useful life. As per E-waste Rule 2016, any electronic product is entitled for E-waste disposal and recycling as a whole or in part, if discarded as waste by the end consumer or bulk consumer or if rejected from manufacturing, refurbishment and repair processes.

Why E-waste Management?

E-waste contains many valuable, recoverable materials such as aluminum, copper, gold, silver, plastics, and ferrous metals. It also contains toxic and hazardous materials including mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium, chromium, and chemical flame retardants, which have the potential to leach into the soil and water.  Thus in order to conserve natural resources and the energy needed to produce new electronic equipment from virgin resources, electronic equipment should be refurbished, reused, and recycled instead of being land filled.

General scheme of collection:

DIESL has partnered with E waste Solutions which is registered with Haryana State Pollution Control Board for management and dismantling/ disposal of all our e-waste. With this, DIESL conducts the following activities for its E-waste disposal.

• E-waste generated from PAN India is disposed at the E-waste solution plant located at Haryana (Industrial area 1A, Industrial Estate, Sector 6, Faridabad, Haryana – 121006).

• Our Partner E waste Solutions has all the authorization related e-waste dismantling from HSPCB/CPCB and having all connects related to Air/Water/Hazardous waste. They have capacity of 1000 MT per annum.

•If any customer/partner associated with DIESL wants to handover their old product they can reach or call our e-waste recycling partner’s on the Toll Free No 1800 123 5313. The designated team representatives from E-waste solutions will explain about process of disposal and make the customer/partner aware about nearest drop point available to drop the e-waste also give information about incentive one can avail against their end of life product. Customer/partner can also handover the material from their door steps then to E waste Solutions team to collect the items. Further it gets channelize to the e-waste plant for final processing.

Do’s & Don’ts:

Do’s:

• Always look for manufacturing and expiry date information on the product catalogue.

• Ensure that only Authorized Recyclers repair and handle your electronic products.

• Always call E-waste Authorized Collection Centres/points to dispose products that have reached to their end-of life cycle.

• Always drop your used electronic products, batteries or any accessories when they reach the end of their life at your nearest Authorized E-Waste Collection Centres/Points.

• Disconnect the battery from product, and ensure any glass surface is protected against breakage.

Don’ts:

• Do not dismantle or dispose your electronic products on your own.

• Do not throw electronics in bins having “Do not Dispose” sign.

• Do not give e-waste to any buyer from unorganized sectors like local scrap dealer/ gag pickers.

• Do not dispose your product in garbage bins along with municipal waste that ultimately reaches landfills.
